Czech Research Institutes have joined an European Infrastructure

17. Jan. 2017

The Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB) associating core facilities of research centres BIOCEV and CEITEC for the study of the structure of biomacromolecules has become a full member of an European research infrastructure INSTRUCT. Thanks to this, CIISB has acquired a direct access to users from the academic and industrial sphere of the European research area, to which they can now offer its services and expertise under the auspices of the European research infrastructure INSTRUCT.

The status of an INSTRUCT centre will also enable CIISB to get more widely involved in other activities of INSTRUCT, such as organizing educational courses, internships for students and scientists or the preparation and coordination of European projects in the field of structural biology. The status of an INSTRUCT Centre has been awarded based on an international evaluation and a unanimous decision of the INSTRUCT Council. This decision has confirmed that CIISB is comparable with similar centres in France, Italy, Great Britain and Germany as to its parameters, expertise and equipment. This way the Czech Republic has joined the most significant European research centres in the field of structural biology.

On the occasion of CIISB being approved as a full INSTRUCT Centre, an opening conference took place in Kurdějov on 5-7 December 2016, where a number of scientists and significant members of the Czech Society of Structural Biology participated, which was also accompanied by expert lectures and presentations of individual CIISB core facilities.
