Břetislav Brzobohatý, Head of the Developmental and Production Biology Research Group - Omic Approaches, at CEITEC Mendel University, and his team has contributed significantly to the elucidation of the role of plant hormones cytokinins in leaf growth and development. He is also a co-author of the Multifaceted activity of cytokinin in leaf development shapes its size and structure in Arabidopsis. The first author of this publication is Jan Skalák, who recently works in the research group of Jan Hejátko at CEITEC MU.

The effects of cytokinins are diverse and their application to plants at different stages of development often elicits a contradictory physiological response. Prof. Brzobohatý in cooperation with experts from the Belgian (VIB) in Ghent and the Olomouc Laboratory of Growth Regulators (Faculty of Science, Palacky University in Olomouc) to increase the production of biomass.

This comprehensive study, using, among other things, state-of-the-art methods of studying transcriptome and proteome, answers the questions that relate to. That is why this work has been tested by the editorial board of the prestigious scientific journal The Plant Journal, in the form of editorial commentary and a cover picture in March magazine no. 5, vol. 97.
